Description

Children who have experienced abuse and neglect often need more help than the system can provide. That’s where Advocates for Children's Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) step in. We are seeking dedicated volunteers who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children who need it the most.

What is a CASA? CASAs are ordinary people with an extraordinary desire to help a child find a safe and loving home. As a CASA volunteer, you’ll serve as a voice for children in the foster care system, advocating for their best interests in court and throughout the process. Your role is to ensure that children’s rights to grow, learn, and be treated with dignity and respect are upheld.

Who can be a CASA volunteer? You do not need a social work background or legal expertise to be successful. What you need is:

  • A strong commitment to the child’s case.
  • A willingness to advocate for the child’s best interests.
  • A passion for making a positive impact.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life, including:

  • Full-time workers
  • Stay-at-home parents
  • Retirees
  • College students
  • People of all races, religions, and economic backgrounds.

What does a CASA volunteer do? As a CASA volunteer, you will:

Help break cycles of fear, shame, and violence, providing the child with the opportunity to grow in a loving, permanent home

  • Investigate the child’s situation, speaking to everyone involved in their life, including parents, teachers, and caseworkers.
  • Report findings to the court and advocate for the child’s needs and safety.
  • Be a consistent and supportive presence in the child’s life, helping them through difficult transitions and ensuring they have a voice in the system.
  • Help break cycles of fear, shame, and violence, providing the child with the opportunity to grow in a loving, permanent home.

If you're ready to help a child in need, we encourage you to consider becoming a CASA volunteer. You don’t need to be a superhero, just someone willing to give your time and heart.

Together, we can help children find the love and stability they deserve.
