The Columbus Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors is looking for individuals from the community to join our IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access) committee. The CSO highly values Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility. As a result, the board of directors developed an IDEA committee in 2020 to strengthen the orchestra’s commitment to these principles, both within the orchestra’s musician membership and the broader community audience and supporters. The IDEA committee assesses the CSO’s current strengths and implements action plans to address areas in need of improvement.
It is the goal of the CSO Board that the IDEA committee be comprised of community members that reflect the makeup, ideas, and values of the greater Columbus area community. The CSO envisions a diverse, inclusive, equitable, and accessible community that is engaged in musical excellence for education and enjoyment.
Participation in this committee may include development of partnerships for concerts, attendance at local community events on behalf of the CSO, and evaluation of CSO practices. The committee meets once per quarter, or as needed if preparing for a particular event. Committee meetings take place virtually, while concerts and other events occur in-person.
