Who We Are

Mission: To achieve equity, political rights, and social inclusion by advancing policies and practices that expand human and civil rights, eliminate discrimination, and accelerate the well-being, education, and economic security of Black people and all persons of color.

Founded in 1909 in response to the ongoing violence against Black people around the country, the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) is the largest and most pre-eminent civil rights organization in the nation. For more than a century the NAACP has worked to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.

What We Do

We, at the NAACP branch 3071, strive relentlessly to establish equality for all citizens, irrespective of their race. We aim to bring transformation and enhancement to several aspects of society, from education and employment to health and criminal justice. Armed with a robust network of activists, we tirelessly advocate for the rights of colored people and work towards removing barriers faced in racial discrimination. We also promote an awareness of political, educational, social and economic equalities in order to create a society that cherishes equal rights without racial bias.
