Who We Are

Mission: To promote and protect the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supports their full inclusion and participation and in the community throughout their lifetimes.

We are committed to providing advocacy and high-quality, life-changing support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. We tirelessly work to foster an inclusive, caring community where differences are celebrated, striving to catalyze positive change in the lives of the people we serve. Since 1949, we have been continuously expanding our programs to serve thousands in Baltimore, enabling them to thrive and grow by providing education, employment opportunities, residential services, and family support.

What We Do

The Arc of Bartholomew County empowers families with information and resources to assist them in their journey of raising a child with a disability to lead a full and meaningful life. We empower people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities to be self sufficient and independent to the greatest extent possible. We inspire positive change in public policy and public attitudes. We prevent disabilities through education about the dangers of drugs and alcohol while pregnant and advocating for all women to have quality prenatal care. We also serve as a spokesperson and advocate for families and their loved ones.
