Mission: To collect and preserve Bartholomew County artifacts, photographs, and documents.
At Bartholomew County Historical Society, we are a team of history enthusiasts deeply committed to collecting, preserving, and making accessible the rich heritage of Bartholomew County, Indiana. We operate several historic buildings and museums, host a wide array of public programs and offer educational resources for all ages. We see ourselves not only as historians, but also as story-tellers sharing the vivid, multifaceted stories of our community. Our organization was founded in 1921 and since then, our mission has been to spark conversations about the county’s past to help shape its future.
What We Do
At Bartholomew County Historical Society, we are dedicated to preserving, presenting, and promoting the history of Bartholomew County, Indiana. Our activities include maintaining a historical museum and offering research facilities to facilitate a deeper understanding of our local history. We actively participate in educational programs and community events that celebrate our unique heritage. Additionally, we’re committed to the preservation of historic sites within Bartholomew County. We consider ourselves stewards of our history, both for current citizens and future generations.
